2 year agoOakFire (Midpines, Mariposa Co) - 5,712 acres per FIRIS. Key notes: on both sides of Silva Rd north of Van Ness. Is not yet @ the Snow Creek/WF of Chowchilla River as previously reported - it is 1 mile to north. Nothing west of Hwy 140 or E/O Jerseydale Rd. Map = FireMappers

2 year agoHaunting images show the destructive force of the OakFire burning in Mariposa County west of @YosemiteNPS. @CAL_FIRE says fire activity is extreme and crews are seeing frequent runs and group torching.
OakFire (Midpines, Mariposa Co) - Radio traffic indicating fire is still picking up steam in the Snow Creek area. Some roads around Triangle are impassable due to heavy fire. No perimeter control @ the moment, resources still all in structure defense

2 year agoVideo shows fire crews working dangerously close to the OakFire, currently raging in Mariposa County west of @YosemiteNPS. The wildfire has exploded to 1,600 acres and has reached the Sierra National Forest
OakFire (Midpines, Mariposa Co) - There have been multiple reports of civilians trapped + also have had a civilian vehicle go off the road near Triangle Rd & Meadow Ln, minor injuries. Resources have been & continue to work on accessing & escorting civilians out of the area
2 year agoOakFire (Midpines, Mariposa Co) - All tankers off the fire for the night. AA is departing, reported that the heel of the fire is well established again & the right flank/shoulder will be the most problematic tonight, do have spots across that side - that is the western side
2 year agoThe OakFire is still actively growing, sending up a LOT of smoke. Estimated at 2,000 to 2,500 acres, per aerial report relayed by @CAFireScanner. Air crews will have to wait until daybreak to attack it again, ground crews have a long night ahead of them
2 year agoOakFire (Midpines, Mariposa Co) - Air Attack estimating the fire to be 2,000-2,500 acres but their view is hampered by smoke. Tankers doing their last drops & being released for the night due to nightfall. Tankers & copters ordered for tomorrow morning
